The unit area scale converter is a free Python tool for length, area and drawing-scale conversions including marla and kanal for freelancers working with plots and drawings. Property and drawing work in Pakistan constantly crosses unit systems: a plot stated in marla, a drawing in metres, a client asking in square feet. The tool covers lengths from millimetres to miles, areas from square feet and square yards through square metres to marla, kanal, acres and hectares, with Pakistan property units built in, and drawing scales from real size to paper size at 1:50, 1:100 or any scale you set. Everything runs on your own computer, with no uploads and no accounts, and the full version keeps a history of conversions that you can save to a file.
How to use it. Install Python 3.8 or newer once, ticking "Add python.exe to PATH" during install on Windows, and no extra installs are needed for this tool. Double-click unit_area_scale_converter.py to run it, then pick the conversion type: a length, an area, or a drawing scale. For a drawing scale, enter the real size and the scale, such as 1:100, and read back the paper size, or work the other way from paper to real. If anything fails to start, re-check the Python install and the PATH tick first, because that fixes almost everything, and save the history to a file when you want a record of a conversion for a client or a drawing.
Worked example. A freelancer is preparing a drawing for a plot the client described in marla, while the drawing itself is set out in metres. She opens the converter, picks the area conversion, enters the plot in marla, and reads back the same area in square feet and square metres for the drawing notes, so the client-facing figure and the drawing figure agree instead of coming from two different conversions. Then she checks a drawing scale: a real wall length at 1:100, reading back the paper length to confirm it fits the sheet before printing. Both conversions stay on her own computer, and the saved history gives her the figures again later without re-entering them.
