The bar bending schedule template is a free Excel spreadsheet that lists reinforcement bars and calculates total lengths and weights automatically for site engineers and steel fixers.
The bar bending schedule template is a free Excel spreadsheet that lists reinforcement bars and calculates total lengths and weights automatically for site engineers and steel fixers. Instead of working out each bar by hand, you enter the bar mark and description, the diameter, the count and the length, and the sheet calculates the total length and weight for you. The weight uses the standard formula: weight in kg per metre equals diameter squared divided by 162, so the figures in the sheet match the formula site teams already use.
How to use it. Open the file in Excel, LibreOffice Calc or Google Sheets and enter one row per bar, starting with the bar mark and description so the schedule stays readable on site. Enter the diameter, the number of bars and the length for each bar, then check the automatic total length and weight before you do anything else with the numbers. Use the TOTAL weight when ordering steel, because ordering from a single bar's weight instead of the total is how sites end up short. If the schedule grows, insert new rows above the TOTAL row and copy the formulas down, so the totals keep including every bar.
Worked example. A site engineer schedules 40 bars of 12 mm diameter, each 6 metres long. The weight per metre is 12 squared divided by 162, which is 0.89 kg per metre. One bar therefore weighs about 5.33 kg, and 40 bars weigh about 213 kg in total, before any laps or wastage the project specifies separately. In the template, entering diameter 12, count 40 and length 6 produces that total automatically, and the engineer orders from the TOTAL row rather than from a hand-added column, which is the point of the sheet: the arithmetic is done once, by formula, and checked in one place.
The template is free in full, with no checkout and no account. If a download fails or a file arrives damaged, email tariqshahzad88@gmail.com and the file will be re-sent, and if a product does not work as described it will be fixed or replaced within 7 days.
