The BOQ template is a free Excel spreadsheet that prices measured construction work item by item with automatic totals for builders and quantity surveyors. A bill of quantities only earns trust when every line can be checked, so the template keeps the structure simple: one row per measured item, a quantity, a rate, and an Amount column that calculates itself, plus a TOTAL row that updates as the bill changes. That structure is what lets a client compare your price with another bid line by line instead of arguing about a single lump sum.
How to use it. Open boq-template.xlsx in Excel, LibreOffice Calc or Google Sheets and replace the sample items with your own measured items, keeping the descriptions specific enough that the client can see exactly what is included. Enter the quantity and rate for each item, then check that the Amount column and the TOTAL row have updated; both use formulas, so a total that looks wrong usually means a quantity or rate was mistyped, not that the sheet failed. When the bill is complete, print it or share it with the client as the priced document for the job. If the job grows, insert new rows above the TOTAL row and copy the Amount formula down, so nothing falls outside the total.
Worked example. A builder prices a small boundary wall job with three lines: excavation at 50 cubic metres and 400 PKR per cubic metre, which is 20,000 PKR; brickwork at 100 square metres and 1,200 PKR per square metre, which is 120,000 PKR; and plaster at 100 square metres and 300 PKR per square metre, which is 30,000 PKR. The Amount column calculates each line, and the TOTAL row shows 170,000 PKR. The client can see where every rupee sits, and if the plaster area later changes to 110 square metres, only that quantity changes and the total updates itself to 173,000 PKR without retyping the bill.
